Grown up in Austria surrounded by classical music, which is reflected by an education of the piano on the university “Mozarteum”, Stefan Oberthaler showed an early interest in jazz music and improvisation. This finally led him to the university of jazz in Linz/Austria, where he finished the degree „Bachelor of Arts“ with excellence.

Stefan Oberthaler aka keyminator describes both of these musical poles as spurring and at the same time thrilling forces within his musical cosmos.

Inspired by an exhibition of the french photographer Philippe Bourseiller about volcanos he beginn to think about a musical series that reflects this elementary process in human nature. It should be a guiding principle over some productions, where each CD communicate and describe a special theme.
